My appt today..
So I went to Dr B today for an u/s after being on Femara for 5 days. I made have 4 eggs but they haven't matured yet so I have to go back for another u/s Wed then trigger that night & B2B iui Thur & Fri. I had an egg quality test done last week by him & the results came back EXCELLANT so my eggs are all good! thank goodness! He did mention something about possibly having PCOS?! This is the 1st time I am hearing this! My periods are reg & I ovulate on my own but he said b/c I made so many eggs this could be an indicator? I am so confused. He mentioned something about how the body is sometimes fooled that it is going to surge but doesn't due to PCOS. & if this iui doesn't work, he will do further testing & put me on Metformin.
I feel like every time I go in, I have a new issue! This is so hard thanks for listening girls & any insight would be appreciated.

Re: My appt today..
PCOS seems to apply to so many different symptoms. In my case, he told me that my egg quality test was consistent with PCOS, as some number was 2.99, and 3+ is evidence of PCOS. However, I also have irregular periods (but do ovulate on my own, just CD 25 if unmedicated). So far, I have only made 2 lead follies on femara, but we'll see what happens when I go tomorrow. I know that a lot of other ladies who have PCOS don't even respond to femara without injectibles.
Sorry, not a lot of insight for you, b/c I find this all so confusing too! Best of luck! I'm hoping for IUIs either Thurs-Fri or Fri-Sat, so we'll be cycling together again.

I was wondering this too. I thought they can't tell anything about egg quality until you go through IVF where they actually look at them under the microscope.

That's what I know too. My RE said that you don't know anything about egg quality until you have an embryo. I wonder which test Dr B was talking about

It's the Ovarian Assessment Report (OAR) through Reprosource. It's a blood test, and I don't really know much about what data it actually gives, b/c he didn't go into much detail with me. He just told me that one of the numbers was consistent with my dx of PCOS.
ETA: I just found this link which explains what it is. Dr. B didn't tell me anything about my number of eggs though...

Interesting that I never had this done, being that I have high FSH which makes my eggs very likely to be crappy

Thanks for this. Hmm, my RE never mentioned this specific test, but I wonder if it was one of the million tests they ran when I first went to him. I am assuming so. It looks like with this test, that's how they can determine DOR (diminished ovarian reserve) diagnosis, although that's not my particular diagnosis. Thank you for passing on the info.

Thanks! I had one lead egg my first cycle, and two the second. I'm hoping that there are more this time around. I am on metformin, and it's supposed to help more with egg quality as time goes on. I really hope the 3rd time's the charm!

He said I might have to go on Metformin if the iui doesnt work out this time. How is it? any side effects/weight gain? I hope this cycle works out for you!

I haven't had any side effects from it, but other people have had some stomach problems at the beginning. Some people report decreased appetite and weight loss - I wish!
