Telling your Boss
I recently changed doctors to Dr. Braverman, and his monitoring hours are horrible, they are during my regular working hours, so I will have to change my hours around here and there to accommodate my appointments.
My previous RE had great monitoring hours as early as 6:30am, so I never had to tell anyone at work about my infertility issues.
How would you approach the subject with your boss? I keep prolonging this discussion, but I know it has to be done ASAP, because I have to go for CD3 monitoring on Wednesday.

Re: Telling your Boss
I would tell your boss that you are being treated for a non-life threatening medical issue that will cause you to see a doctor with hours that conflict with your regular working hours.
Ask for flexibility and give it a time frame so your boss has reasonable expectations.
I told my boss outright since I felt I could. Not all bosses care about your quest so use your judgment.
I found out that my boss was going to adopt a few years before she was transferred back to NY from London. So she ended up confiding in me. I miscarried last summer and she thought something was up with me and I told her. She was very sympathetic.
So depending on your relationship, either way could work out.

Re: Telling your Boss
at my last job i told my boss i had a medical issue and would bring doctor notes if necessary (Dr. B's office will write you them WHENEVER you need). they really arent allowed to ask you anything more about it. at my current job they know my situation (its a very small company) so it wasnt an issue.

Re: Telling your Boss
I'm going through the same thing! Also Dr. B's office. Tomorrow, I'm putting in my first request to change my schedule for 3 days next week. I'm just saying "Dr. apt" and if they pry or give me trouble, I'll tell them. I'm pretty sure if I tell them they will be understanding, but I just hate volunteering such personal info.
I like the non-threatening medical thing though.

Re: Telling your Boss
Thank you ladies so much. I wrote her an email and explained my situation. She was very understanding and said this week I'll come in early on Wednesday and we will figure out the other days when I know further details on which days I have to go in for monitoring. Good Luck bringonthebaby with your request tomorrow. Hopefully they will be understanding.
