HSG
Can anyone share what happens during this procedure? Does it hurt? Do I need to take a few days off? I am just finishing my 2nd round of Clomid with progesterone. 13 dpo...bfn! I am thinking HSG is the next procedure.

Re: HSG
Everyone is different. I had mine on a Fri so I took the day. My appt was at 11 and I was out of there by 12. No pain what so ever for me. I didn't have any blockage....seems people have more pain if there is a blockage. I could have gone to work if I wanted.
They did tell me that since I never had a vaginal birth they used the really small catheter on me and that cause it was the smaller one it would help with less pain.

Re: HSG
No pain AT ALL...I did not have any blockages so thats why it didnt hurt. I heard if you have blockages its like period cramps. I dont think you would need to take the day just for pain...good luck

Re: HSG
I only had some mild period cramps during it and I was fine after. I took a couple of Advil about half an hour before the procedure though and I'm sure that helped. I had no blockages. I went to Nassau Radiologic Group and couldn't recommend this place enough!

Re: HSG
I felt it was more uncomfortable then painful. I did/do have a blockage on my left side. The worst part for me was the antibiotics they had me take, they made me nausea.

Re: HSG
I had no pain at all. No Blockages were found. I heard from others that if you have a blockage it might be more uncomfortable. Minor bleeding afterwards. I took 3 advils before the procedure. I also went to Nassau Radiologic Group, and they were great. Good Luck!

Re: HSG
Mine was uncomfortable. It took two pushes to get all the way through. When it got to feel unbearable (I didn't know if I wanted go to the bathroom or throw up) it was over. For the rest of the day I felt crampy. Advil absolutely helps so make sure you take it before and after. They say you can bleed afterwards for a day or so but I didn't. I would recommend taking the day off especially if you are emotional. I needed the time to myself to decompress after the stress of it.

Re: HSG
Everyone is different. My experience it was uncomfortable like a pap. I took Motrin or Advil before hand (can't remember which). Slight cramping and spotting after but nothing unbearable. My tubles were clear.
My friend had one and she said the pain after was unbearable. She had a blockage though...but she got pregnant the next month after that. Good Luck

Re: HSG
Like the other girls said, everyone is different. I did not have any blockages but I did have intense cramping when they injected the dye. It lasted maybe 30 seconds and was done. I had some mild cramping after the procedure but it was not terrible. I took the day off from work and had DH drive me but I could have driven myself and gone to work after. Good luck!

Re: HSG
just had mine this morning and no pain at all!! i took 3 motrin 30 minutes before like they told me so maybe that helped but i also had no blockages. the procedure itself took like 5 minutes for me. not bad at all.
afterwards you just have to wear a pad for the day bc the dye leaks out....and they said no sexy time for 24 hours.

Re: HSG
I had a blockage and only had minor AF-like cramping for about 20-30 seconds. I was petrified too, but it really wasn't bad at all. It's a really quick procedure too.
