LH Question
Good afternoon Ladies! I just got my CD3 bloodwork back and my FSH is 5.8 (not bad) and my LH is 12.6 (NOT GOOD). We already know that I have PCOS, so it isn't that much of a shocker. My RE has me starting on Gonal-F tonight 75iu and come back in on Monday for more bloodwork. He is planning on introducing Menopur later this cycle. So my question is...if my LH is high, why introduce Menopur? I know I should have asked him, and I know he would have answered no problem, but I kinda get stupid when I am on the phone and just say thank you a lot! Plus, I have a habit of saying "Well I read online..." to him a lot, and he tells me to stay off Google!
I think that he wants to introduce it later because my body might stop producing it? Does that make sense?
And words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Re: LH Question
I don't really know anything about it and how drugs impact it. I hope one of the other girls can help!

Re: LH Question
I don't know if I can help too much, so that's why I didn't answer before
I also have PCOS with high LH. My LH has actually been higher than yours, so don't worry too much because they can absolutely control it.
I believe what you said is absolutely right. I also take gonal-f, but I have not taken menopur. I take luveris, which I think is similar to menopur. Once they get the LH under control, they need to reintroduce the LH. They can then better control the LH with the meds.
Tons of luck!

Re: LH Question
i have PCOS too and my LH was traditionally in the 15-20's.
during my early stim cycles it was managed with dexamethasone only. it worked somewhat but never brought it down really to normal levels, but i was able to get pregnant with that protocol, although i ended up miscarrying.
after miscarrying i started on ganirelix instead. i had a pretty unique protocol where i did ganirelix a few days before starting stims, and then continued it all the way til right before trigger. it worked for the most part but i didnt get pregnant either of those cycles.
for IVF i did the same, i started ganirelix earlier than stims. then cause i did BCP prior to all that i was actually TOO suppressed in the LH department . i never thought that would ever happen but it did!! so i actually had to add in luveris during the cycle to assist on maturing the egg. anyway it ultimately worked cause we got 18 eggs retrieved and all 18 were mature.
i know menopur isnt the same as ganirelix and i dont have direct experience with menopur but i think its a combo of FSH and LH. i know a bit of controlled LH during a cycle helps with egg quality so if your FSH is borderline maybe the combo of the two will help with egg maturation?? just a thought though since i dont have direct experience with it. good luck!!

Re: LH Question
Thanks for the replies ladies! I appreciate it. I am going to talk to him on Monday morning when I have bloodwork done. Maybe I should just step away from the computer and let the man do his job! LOL!
