Spin off: Worst thing you ever made

You knew it was coming

When I was in junior high school I made cookies from scratch but forgot to add the dry ingredients to the wet and just cooked the wet.

I also made a meatloaf once that was so salty we couldn't eat it.

my first attempt at paella was DISMALL!!!!

but lucky for my dh most of my trial and error came as a little girl. I started cooking very young.

my DAD on the other hand...could share some of my finest disasters.

The first pot of sauce I made - the meatballs fell apart It was more of a bolognese, and not in a good way.

The second time I made a pot of sauce - I over salted. It was gross.

The third time I made sauce - I burnt the bottom of the pot and ruined the taste.


I stopped making it for a while and took my MIL's and dad's leftovers.

I started trying again last year and have FINALLY consistently made a good pot of sauce everytime. It's a really good combo of my MIL's (thick, dark and meaty) and my dad's (garlicy, sweeter, thinner). I found the combo that both DH & I can enjoy (and everyone else on both sides of the family who taste it).

i think the worst would be:

* my first attempt at bread... it was literally, a door stop
* my spinach/artichoke recipe... i totally did a rachel on this one... i mixed two recipes, and it was not a good outcome lol

I tried to make fetticine alfredo the other night. it came out AWFUL!

A burnt meatloaf. DH could've built us a house if he'd had some mortar. I think it weighed 57 pounds.

I have made soooo many horrible things!

The worst (I think) was one of my first attempts at oven baked chicken cutlets. I used fresh garlic in the breading and it burned and left a horrible bitter taste. And I overcooked it. Rob was like "This tastes like the chicken went back packing in the Sahara for 2 weeks!"

My 2nd pot of sauce. The first one I made DH said was too bitter, he likes a sweeter sauce. He really liked a sauce one of his friend's wives made and she said she adds 1/2 c of sugar. Well I tried to replicate this but never asked her for the measurements. I added way too much sugar and the pot of sauce tasted more like a dessert. It was disgusting.

i love the way they look and i dont know what happened but mine were awful - they looked like poo, and they didn't taste good either.

A sprial ham. There were 2 sets of directions on the ham which were completely different from each other. It was like shoe leather. And...it was so bad, my now husband threw it out the front door

without a doubt...this peanut thai sauce with stir fry. I followed the directions but I must have messed something up. It tasted like a spoonful of soy sauce mixed with a spoonful of peanut butter. This is the one and only time I actually dry heaved on my own cookiing

"FlapJack Fish" - well thats what we ended up calling it. It was supposed to be fish in a light batter and fried.

I guess I screwed something up because it was like a pancake on a fish - DISGUSTING

one and only time we have totally thrown away a meal and ordered take out

Pigs in a blanket! i never made them before and I wrapped the whole croissant dough around the mini-weenie.

We had the turkey fryer and DH was just throwing them in. The middle was completely raw. I told my poor Uncle to stop eating them and he said "Oh there is cheese in the middle!" There was no cheese

I figured it out in time to save the second batch!

The worst thing I ever made was bread. I tried to make an Italian bread, it turned out to be like a baseball bat LOL That is the only thing I really ever screwed up!

Probably a tie between many things! I can thing of two at the moment.

Beef brisket with some kind of herb crust. I think my brisket was way smaller than the recipe called for so there was soooo much seasoning. I was scraping it off as best I could but it was still way too salty.

The other was guacamole. I don't know what came over me but I decided to grate the onion and garlic into the bowl one day. I think I can blame Rachael Ray for the idea! For some reason it made the onion and garlic flavor so strong. I had one bite and DH wouldn't come near me for days!

Pork chops in this ketchup, beer batter sauce. I actually got the recipe from LIF It sounded easy so I tried it. It was disgusting

A meatload. OMG..first year I got married. came out horrible. I always thought making a meatloaf would be so easy, guess I was wrong. For some reason the grease didnt leak out and the meat just soaked it all up. It was absolutely disguisting but DH ate it all up.
