Those of you ladies that has IUI
If you don't mind, can you tell me how it went? How many times you had to go to the dr and what happened each visit? Really, anything you can share with me would be great. I'm coming to the end of all my testing and everything (other then a blocked tube) has come back "normal", and now the next step is IUI. I'm going to have blood work tomorrow and then the dr is suppose to call me once that comes back, but until I talk to him again, I'm really curious to whats going to happen.
TIA

Re: Those of you ladies that has IUI
It really depends on the protocol you and your RE agree on.
I have PCOS and do not ovulate on my own. Clomid did not work for me, so for our 1st IUI cycle, we moved on to Gonal-F injections. I was on the injections for 19 days... started out at a VERY low dosage and upped it every couple of days depending on how my body responded. It is very easy to hyperstim on injections, so that is what we were trying to avoid. SO after 19 days of injections (felt like a year and a half), I had 4 maturing follicles, but 1 frontrunner at 23mm (I only ended up ovulating that 1 egg). I triggered on a Tuesday night and my IUI was on Thursday morning. DH produced at home and we dropped off the sample and were told to come back in 1 hour. We left, had some breakfast, then went back for the procedure. The whole thing lasted for LITERALLY... 90 seconds. It was so quick, I couldn't believe it! They had me lay on my back for 15 minutes or so and then we went home. I worked from home that day and layed down as much as I could. We also BD that night for good luck. I had no spotting/crampig, although I hear that is very common with IUI. I tested at 10DPO and got a BFP, and it was confirmed on 14DPIUI with a beta. We were one of the lucky ones who got our BFP after our 1st IUI with just 1 follie... I guess that's all you need! HTH! GOOD LUCK!!!

I didn't realize that, but thanks so much for the info.
I'm praying I'm one of the lucky ones also. After two MC last year and a million and one tests, I'm so drained.

Re: Those of you ladies that has IUI
I have had 3 all with medication. The first two was just on Clomid and the last one I was on injectables, which I responded to well. I have mild PCOS and anovulatory cycles. Like Maria said, it all depends what your RE recommends for treatment.
The funny thing that everything you worry about before and after the IUI is the worst part. The actual process takes about 1 min and then you lay there for about 5 mins, then begin the awfull 2ww.
Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

Re: Those of you ladies that has IUI
I have done several natural cycle IUI's. I ovulate on my own so we have not tried any fertility drugs yet. My doctor has me come in on Cycle Day 10. They do bloodwork and a sonogram to monitor my follicles. Depending on how many follicles I have and the size, they have me come back the next day or in a few days. They monitor me until I am surging which indicates I am ready to ovulate. The next day, I go in for my IUI. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions let me know.

Re: Those of you ladies that has IUI
I have had two IUI cycles. I have PCOS, and ovulate on my own, but with very long cycles, so I was medicated for both cycles.
Both cycles, like every cycle, started with CD 3 bloodwork and sono. My protocols for both cycles was femara with dexamethasone, along with metformin and baby aspirin.
With each cycle, I went back about a week later for bloodwork and sono. The first time, not much was going on, and I went back 3 days later, to find a 19 mm follie. That was a Monday, and I had IUIs on Wednesday and Thursday.
For my second cycle, I went in for my 1st monitoring appointment on Wednesday, and there were two follies, one 18 mm and one 19 mm. I had one IUI, on Thursday, b/c the office was going to be closed on Friday and Saturday for New Years.
Best of luck to you!

Re: Those of you ladies that has IUI
i've had 2 on clomid--took meds CD3-7 and, went in somewhere between cd11-cd13 to count and measure the follies. depending on size, i've had to come in for another sono to check if enough of them matured, and then they triggered me with an hcg shot. the day after the trigger, they bring us in for the procedure. DH drops the sample in the lab, and the actual procedure is a lot like getting a pap-no biggie.
