Estradiol
So, I got my third BFN today. My doc offered to see me tomorrow to discuss different options, but I said we wanted to try another natural IUI this month... unless, of course, there's something wrong (long story, but there shouldn't be anything wrong with either my body or the sperm). So, she wrote back and was like, "no problem. I'll see you for cd3 then. I am a little concerned b/c you had an elevated estradiol in the past." Well, that's the first I ever heard of that. So, now I guess I'm waiting 'till cd3 to find out what that really means for me. Any ideas? She basically said, "it doesn't mean you won't get pregnant; it just means we may have to stimulate you to make that happen." She also told me in a previous cycle that she was surprised my follicle hadn't grown faster than it did when she was monitoring it. I keep hearing these things after the cycle is over and none of them seem to fit together. I can't really make sense of it all. I know I have to ask her and I will when I go back, but any ideas from you all would be appreciated! (impatient me...)

Re: Estradiol
Is this doc your RE or an OBGYN? I'm asking because if it's your RE I'm surprised that your higher Estradiol levels haven't been discussed with you before I'm sort of used to having my OBGYN not explain fertility stuff to me but I would expect a lot more from my RE. So basically you didn't know what your diagnosis was up until now? AFter 3 IUIs?

Re: Estradiol
RE. I've otherwise been okay with her, although I am not pregnant yet. But, I never really know if that's anyone's fault other than chance...

Re: Estradiol
The only thing I know about high Estradiol levels is only about how it relates to FSH. If the FSH is normal but the estradiol level is elevated, the elevated estradiol will often be artificially "suppressing" the FSH level down to the normal range. So, basically you might have a high FSH and not really see it. But then again your situation could be totally different than this. Why not just call her instead of waiting around and driving yourself crazy with every possibility?

Re: Estradiol
as far as i know, high e2 is generally related to the amount of follies. when you have lots of follies the e2 rises. for me, i tended to be a hyper-responder so my e2 was always elevated towards trigger time, but it always went hand in hand with the mature follie count. did she say that your e2 is high and did not correspond to your follie development?

Re: Estradiol
I have to admit, all of these unknowns (at this point, that is) are really my fault b/c she wanted me to come in tomorrow to "discuss other options." But, I was like, oh I'll just come in for day3 (a few days from now anyway). I'm just really tired of sneaking in and out of work to go to the doctor all the time. It's exhausting...
I've only ever had one dominant follicle, if that means anything. Everything else has been (or looked) normal...

UPDATE
So I asked what the numbers were today and she told me that she looked at the numbers again and all of them were fine (under 80)... way to make a person crazy over nothing!!!
