When do you trigger and have iui?

I am cd 10 today and went for a follie check. RE originally thought I'd trigger tonight and have b2b iuis this weekend. Today he said I'm responding very well just a little slower than he thought (I was last there 2 days ago).

My biggest follie today was 20 and I had a 19 and 17 all on my right side. My left had 3 all a little smaller. I think the largest was 17. So he said trigger sun. night and come in for iuis mon. and tues.

I'm triggering sun. night at 5pm. My first iui is Monday at 9 am. Turns out he's on vacation tues. So receptionist put me in with someone else tues. night at 5pm. Does this sound like a big gap in time between 1st and 2nd iui???

After I left I thought about it and called the office. The nurse said not to worry about it. Just to ask him on Mon. when I go in. She said we can switch it to someone else if my dr. thinks morning is better. She also said may only do one iui depending if my eggs released (but we won't know till mon. and he does the u/s to see where my follies are).

Just curious as to what you ladies think? TIA.

I only have 1 experience with this but I think you are fine. I triggered on a Tuesday night and had my one single IUI Thursday morning. I was travelling for work so that was the best we could work out.

I think once you trigger you will ovulate about 24 hours later. So more than likely your first IUI is going to be to get some little guys up there to wait for the egg to be released, and the second is going to be the extra insurance.

It's about normal. Most people ovulate 24 to 36 hours after the trigger shot.

I triggered on a Tuesday at 7:15pm, had my first IUI on Wednesday at 1:45pm and the second on Thursday at 2:30PM. It was my first IUI and 14dpiui I got my BFP. I am now 5 weeks 5 days prego

When I was doing IUIs my doctor told me that the secnd IUI is really the most important one and the first one is done on a "just in case you ovulate early" basis. Ovulation after the trigger usually happens around 34 hours and in fewer cases after 24 hours. So this way they have both situations covered.

He also told me that it's not that critical how many hours past the 34 hours the IUI takes place, as long as it's within 24 hours after ovulation, because the egg is around for that much longer.

Thanks ladies. This is my 7th iui. You'd think I be a pro, by now, huh? I think I'm just stressing out because this is our last shot before moving onto IVF so I really need is to work. I got ku on my 4th iui but resulted in m/c unfortunately.

DH is right. I need to stop over thinking, but it's so hard not to!!! Thanks for talking me off the ledge
