Femera vs. clomid w/ endo

My Dr. gave me a script for clomid day 3-7, estrogen 8-12.

I'm researching and seeing that clomid makes endo worse and that Femera is better.

Seeing as how I'm already getting endo spotting just 3 cycles after the lap, I don't need drugs making it worse.

Also, I remember seeing a link for a pharmacy that delivers OOS and is cheaper. Does anyone have that info? They said the ins might not cover the Femera. I still need to call the ins co.

TIA!

ETS- I'm in the 2WW with the last un-med cycle so I'm Chat Icon Chat Icon for Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Femera vs. clomid w/ endo

i have endo, which was diagnosed during a lap last Feb. my dr put me on 3 cycles of clomid and after that, said it was time to move on to more agressive options. my dr did not mention specifically that clomid would affect the endo, but i think in general these drugs can have a negative effect on it and that's why we only tried it for 3 cycles. if you are concerned, you should call your dr and speak with them about it. it totally sucks - the best thing for endo is to get pregnant, which if you have trouble getting pregnant (because of the endo), the treatment options can cause it to come back quicker Chat Icon

I believe the pharmac you are looking for is Freedom Pharmacy, try googling them. From what I know they do not carry Femara. Just injectables. But I am sure they can confirm and maybe even have suggestions, I always found them really helpful. Good luck! Chat Icon

I did call and they said they would give me Femera. They didnt agree or disagree with the point that clomid makes the endo worse, but I have seen differing opinions on that. I've heard i femera has less side effects though.

ETA- YES! it's a total catch 22. They did say that the light spotting wont inhibit inplantation though.

I don't have endo., but I was on both Clomid and Femara and had a lot less side effects on Femara...plus, I got preggo with my twins Chat Icon
In general, they are similar, so go with what you are more comfortable with.
My insurance didn't cover the Femara (most don't) because it is technically a breast cancer drug. But, it wasn't very expensive...I was on it for 2 cycles.

Oh, I didnt know that it was a BC drug. Interesting. I read it doesn't give you as high chance of multiples as clomid. I think clomid is only 2-7%.

Did you do IVF or just meds?

Re: Femera vs. clomid w/ endo

I took femera. I don't ovualte. i was against taking clomid. My mom has breast cancer and I wanted the least amount of hormones as possible.

I felt confident with my choice in taking femera since it is used to treat breast cancer. I had no side effects.
