Zumba?
I know a lot of people love this...can you all tell me why?? I don't know anything about it. If I am not in very good shape is it worth it for me to try this?
SD's dance studio has 10 classes for $99...I don't have to buy a $99 card, can go for $12/class to try it...was wondering if I should? Is this a good deal? TIA!

Re: Zumba?
That's a great deal and really pretty standard for Zumba classes.
I go to a studio in East Northport. The instructor is amazing. I can't go to anyone else after taking her class. It's worth the 25 minute drive for me.
I love Zumba because it's fun. It doesn't feel like working out to me, but I have seen tremendous results. I hate going to the gym and just doing machines. I need something to keep me going.
I also feel that for me, it's a huge stress reliever.

Re: Zumba?
Zumba is a combination of latin dance, hip hop, and aerobics. It's a lot of fun if you like to dance, and a great way to start if you're not a regular exerciser.
$99 for 10 classes is a very good deal.

Re: Zumba?
I've only taken one class so I'm no expert. My place is $10/class too, but I dont have to sign up for 10.
It was like a latin dance aerobics. It's a good workout. It could be fun if I could dance or had coordination, but, instead it was fully b/c I stink lol I went with friends so we all had a good time with it. We are all going again next week.

This
I think it is a great "gateway" workout - it gets you to love to move and get in shape because it is so much fun, and I call it a gateway because once you get in shape, and start to love exercise again, it might turn you on to other fitness related activities - I say go for it!!!
Here are a few motivators:
1. I have seen old ladies rock it out 2. I have seen women who have suffered broken necks and backs recover and do Zumba 3. I have seen people lose insane amounts of weight and gain so much confidence
Just remember:
No one is looking at you - so don't feel embarassed and don't feel like you stand out because you aren't following it 100%.
If there is a mirror, everyone is looking either at the instructor, or at themselves

Re: Zumba?
I like it for 2 reasons. First, if it is a good class, the music is catchy and the dance moves are fun to do. Second, I feel like zumba gives you the chance to choose your own intensity. If you are feeling crappy but want to work out still, just do the moves less exaggerated. If you are feeling great and want to pump up the intensity, add in some hops to all your steps. Some workouts like step don't really allow for that.

I agree. I really only look at the instructor, or the good people in the class to follow them
