Specifics of immune testing - Flowerwife/Penny come in!
I had my immune testing done yesterday at my current RE.
I was trying to find out what exactly is included in this panel and nurse told me : NK cells testing and HLA ( or something similar) matching with DH.
I have the following questions as nurse seemed clueless and dr not available:
Do they test for blood types and Rh factor? I thought immune panel is much more extensive than NK cells and compatibility matching. Do you know what exactly tests were included in immune panel?
Thanks

My immune testing included only the Nk cell activity, the HLA, the DQ genotype, and the tnf cytokine(?). The other stuff you mentioned (Rh), blood types and genetic testing like fragile x, was part of the initial bloodwork Re's usually take when you first get started. They probably have all that stuff in your file. I believe that is standard when you start.

really? since i am having a mc, i am getting concerned about blood types and compatibility of Rh factors. I am pretty sure RE never tested for it, i had his assistant send me a copy of all blood tests in the file. Genetic testing was done separately, but it was Jewish Ashkenazi panel, for specific genetic disorders. I am now confused.
I need to google the DQ genotype, and the tnf cytokine. Anyone knows what it means?

There are two for the HLA, one is the DQ alpha match for both you and DH and the other is a phenotype panel.
DH and I are a DQ alpha match.
Then there is the NK cells test as well as the reproductive immunophenotyping with NK.

This is a copy & paste from another persons thread. But i would go to Dr. Beers website for a better understanding, his site has been really useful to me, regarding immune issues.
ANA (CPT 86038) APTT, PTT (CPT 85730) LUPUS ANTICOAGULANT ANTIBODY (CPT 85300) THYROID PANEL (CPT 80091) ANTITHYROID ANTIBODIES (CPT 86376, 86800) SERUM IMMUNOGLOBULINS (CPT 82784) LEUKOCYTE ANTIBODY DETECTION ASSAY (CPT 86021) ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID ANTIBODIES (CPT 86147) DQ ALPHA FEMALE AND MALE TESTING (CPT 86816) ANTI DNA/HISTONE ANTIBODIES (CPT 86225) NATURAL KILLER CELL ASSAY (FULL PANEL) WITH TJ6 (CPT 88180, 86353, 86849) TNF ALPHA ANTIBODIES TO NEUROTRANSMITTERS AND HORMONES ALSO: "NKs in uterus was what caused some of my m/c and the only way to diagnose it is to do an endo biopsy on, I think, CD 26. Patients can have their tissues removed by their local Ob/Gyn and have it sent to Dr Beer's office for testing. This is what I did and the instructions are listed on Dr Beer's website http://repro-med.net/tests/endomet.php#how in case anyone wants to know." ALSO - the cytokine test. Here's the link to read more about it: http://repro-med.net/tests/th1th2.php. It tests the TNF and TH1 level.
These testings may lead many an "unexplained infertility" couple/woman to a true diagnosis and eventual treatment and success!! - You should also be aware that antibodies as listed above are able to regress completely and then subsequently flare up, ie., some women do not test positive for certain antibodies unless and until they are pregnant!

Make sure they give you a copy of the testing for your thrombo panel....some of the tests listed above were included in mine as part of the basic thrombo panel work-up that I did. Offhand I know that the following tests were included in the panel although they are often included as part of immune testing:
LUPUS ANTICOAGULANT ANTIBODY (CPT 85300
ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID ANTIBODIES (CPT 86147)

Re: Specifics of immune testing - Flowerwife/Penny come in!
sorry, i just saw this now. but i dont have anything important to add. i didnt have all of those details that everyone else added. to be honest i dont have the paperwork so im not sure exactly what was tested for, just that i came back with elevated NK cells on the immune side and a partial match with DH on the HLA testing. i do know that when i repeated the immune panel after intralipids after becoming pregnant, the tests came back normal.
sorry thats not much help!
