Appt with Specialist
I was wondering what the fertility specialist does at the first appointment. Do they just talk to you and learn about your history or do u/s to see where you are in your cycle and stuff.
My history: endomitriosis m/c in 2007 healthy in 2008 m/c in 2010
My OB doesn't think I O every month and due to my m/c and endo, she has referred me to a specialist. We started TTCing for #2 last Feb and had a m/c in August. I think I may have O'd this month but will be too few DPO by my appt on Friday for them to tell if I'm preggo.
TIA!

Re: Appt with Specialist
My RE's office makes 1st consultations on or around CD3. Here is why. I went in and had an internal U/S done and had a lot of blood work. We also met with our patient care coordinator and a financial advisor who outlines costs of certain treatments and what to expect for OOP cost (ballpark). Good luck and hope everythin works out.

it would be nice to have your first apt around CD3, so that they can start with tests and u/s right away. On my first apt, we just talked and discussed plan of action.

Re: Appt with Specialist
my RE sat down with DH and I and went over why we were there and our medical histories. then she went over what the initial plan would be (testing). i was early in my cycle so she also did an u/s. we got RXs for bloodwork and SA for my DH.

Re: Appt with Specialist
Thanks everyone! I will be at CD25 and think I O'd at CD21. The practice that I'm going to is pretty popular where I live and it's hard to get in so they just book the next available appt and don't worry about where you are in your cycle. My OB told me if need be they manipulate your cycle with meds. Not that I want to jump to meds if not needed but that is why they don't seem to care where you are. I'm hoping for at least a blood test so if my progesterone is low they give me a supplement just in case I'm preggo! Ugh, I've been TTCing for a year and am in total obsession mode!
ETA: Fert Spec just called to confirm appt, I asked if they'd do blood test to at least check prog levels. She said the Dr will decide but most likely knowing where I am in my cycle he will suggest it. She said they don't worry about where you are in your cycle for 1st appt, they just want to meet you, learn about your past and then decide where to go from what CD you are at. A blood test may be where they start.

This is exactly what happened at our 1st appt as well. Good luck!
