clomid with no IUI
My Dr. recommended clomid, estrogen, trigger for 3 mo. Then if that doesn't work, move to IUI. However, I'm reading that you can't be on clomid for more than 3 months so wouldn't that mean the IUI would me med free? Or are there other meds they would use?
I'm not sure if I should just ask for IUI for the next cycle when I start clomid from the get go and have a better chance. Would insurance cover IUI from the get go? I know its covered unlimited w/ my insurance with pre-auth, but I'm not sure if they would make me try meds first.
I'm pretty sure I O on my own, and have regular cycles but I have endo so maybe that's why they are giving me meds- to increase chances. I haven't gotten pregnant in the last 3 cycles after D&C so maybe they thought I should have if I didn't have any other issues? I'm not sure.

Re: clomid with no IUI
Are you with an OB or an RE ??
The reason I ask is because I wasted 7 precious months with an OB taking Clomid with timed ...He never did any preliminary test on me to check for tube blockages or did a SA on my DH....I also was not monitored properly with sonos etc...If I had a blockage, Clomid would have done nothing...If DH had an issue with sperm, it also would have decreased our chances greatly...
Clomid has a tendency to dry CM and it is not reccomended that it be used for more than 12 cycles as it "can" thin your lining...
I finally moved onto an RE who did all the proper testing and after my 3rd Clomid/IUI cycle, I conceived my ...
Clomid is given to make you ovulate, so I'm not quite sure why that would be given in your case ( though I'm not a Dr. so maybe there is some other reason)
If you do ovulate on your own, IUI w/ out meds is a possibility if your issue is with CM or even sperm however...
I feel very strongly about being seen by an RE for fertility issues, so I'm sorry for the long winded post
Good Luck !!!!

Re: clomid with no IUI
IUI is only a few hundred dollars if you don't have insurance. That's not nothing, but it's totally worth it for a lot of people.
I got pg with my first Clomid/IUI cycle. I was under the care of an RE. When you're being monitored by and RE on Clomid, you go in every few days for check-ups anyway. The IUI just felt like one more day I had to go in there - not painful, not a hassle. I was on the fence about having IUI and my RE told me that at her practice, women who do IUI have twice the pregnancy rate of women who do timed intercourse.

Re: clomid with no IUI
my RE was going to start me on clomid without the IUI until DH's SA came in low for morphology, which changes the course of action to include the IUI. he just said it pays to increase the number of targets, and i guess some doctors lean toward the least aggressive path to start.
i also thought you could take clomid for 6 months.

Re: clomid with no IUI
I'm with an OB who does a lot of fertility stuff too. I had an HSG, lap to remove endometriosis, cyst and a DandC. DHs SA came back good.
It just bugs me that they never checked if I actually O or not. I asked and they said they will check all that when I come in next cycle, btu that is after clomid. If clomid is to make you O then you wouldnt need it if you do O. I know it makes the follies bigger too though.
I guess I'll be monitored, just clomid d3-7, estro 8-12 and sono to see follies. Then if they are big enough- trigger.
Maybe they are thinking 6 months and thats why 3 and 3?
