any yogi's out there?
i have been doing yoga off and on for about 8 years. most recently hot yoga. my inlaws got me a membership to the yoga studio i love to go to. (best.gift.ever!!) it isn't like other hot yoga studios. they do a mash up of bikram, vinyasa, ashtanga, and a tiny bit of hatha. (i think.)
point is, i have way too much time on my hands, and can go 5 times a week if i wanted too. would that be overkill? the sessions are super intense. i really want to improve, but i also don't want to hurt myself. i plan on throwing some running into the mix.
since i'm not paying for it, (now the rates are $30 per class) i want to take full advantage. any experienced yogi's out there with any tips?

Re: any yogi's out there?
I have been doing hot yoga for almost a year now.
I go on average 3 classes per week.
I say it all the time, but I absolutely wish I had the time to go more often.
I say if you do have the time, you should definitely take advantage of it!!!!!
I haven't really heard of anyone getting sick from it from going too much, although I am sure if someone has underlying issues with exercising too much, it could be problematic.
But that's another thread!!!! Let us know how you do!!

Re: any yogi's out there?
Bikram lover here! I've been practicing steadily for a few months. AWESOME that your ILs bought you a membership! DH is going to plant that idea in ILs head for my birthday present, my membership expires right at that time.
My two cents? Go as much as you can! My teacher said that 5 times is what is needed to get maximum benefits and see results but I have yet to go that often. I'm up to 4.
Just make sure to drink plenty of water, though I'm sure you know that already. If you're going regularly, you might consider looking at lulu for gear. Pricey, but it makes for a much more comfortable experience, imo.
Enjoy!

Re: any yogi's out there?
i teach both yoga and hot yoga, and i think anywhere between 3-5x a week is terrific. so long as you properly hydrate and honor your body if it needs to take a time out during class (another childs pose instead of down dog).
any questions about yoga, please ask! i could talk about it ALL DAY
