Irregular Periods and PCOS. I have some questions
All my life had very irregular periods and. Cysts. I was put on the pill very young to regulate them. Even on the pill my cycles were never normal. After having my DD my periods have gotten worse. in the past 17 months since having her I've been having 46-48 day cycles and bleeding for 20-25 days very heavy and passing clots(sorry for the tmi) I've seen my OB and she thinks nothing of it. I'm to the point of being worried. I've been reading a lot online and PCOS has been popping up.
Can anyone that has it tell me symptoms, signs of it and if there is anything you can do for it?
Anyone else ever have periods like I've had? What could this be? Why is this happening? Thanks ladies!

Re: Irregular Periods and PCOS. I have some questions
while i cant really tell you what's wrong with you, here's my story. I wasnt getting AF for a few months after getting off BCP and my GYN was very blase about it. I switched to a new one and found out I had PCOS.
If you don't have a good feeling about your current gyn, you definitely should try and see a new one!

no , just some weight gain. i really was shocked when the gyn told me cuz i didnt expect that. i was on BCP for about 8 years and before that I never paid attention to my (irregular) periods.

Re: Irregular Periods and PCOS. I have some questions
my story wasnt like yours - i basically had normal AF before BCP. then i went on BCP for birth control purposes for 12 years. when i went off i never got a normal AF again. my shortest unmedicated cycle was 42 days, and sometimes i would go 60 or 90 days without AF or ovulation. after the ob/gyn threw clomid at me and no further explanation, i went to see an RE who immediately d/x me with PCOS.
if you are questioning your cycle then the first thing you should do is temp and determine if you are ovulating regularly. if you are, even if its later in your cycle, you still have a good shot to get preg every cycle. if you arent or if the days are very unpredictable and irregular, you should see an RE since your ob/gyn is not taking you seriously.
good luck!

Re: Irregular Periods and PCOS. I have some questions
I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago. I had very irregular periods, hair growth and that's pretty much it. It's such a BROAD diagnosis though, that sometimes you can only have one or two symptoms and STILL have it.
I also was on the pill for 10 years to regulate my period and although it worked, I don't think I would go back on the pill because it doesn't let your body perform naturally.
I went a holistic route to help regulate my periods (acupuncture, herbs and diet) and it worked for me! If you want any advice on this, please feel free to FM me.
But I totally feel for you! It's frustrating! Try getting the book PCOS for dummies. It helped explain alot!

Re: Irregular Periods and PCOS. I have some questions
I have PCOS and I got my AF regularly every 32-35 days. BUT I would spot for no joke like a week before getting AF.
