just found out i am pregnant. need help
i just found out last night that i am pregnant. i have been taking .5 mg of xanax for 3 weeks, 1-2 a day. I am so scared that this will effect the baby. what do i do? should i just stop taking it or talk with my doctor first?????

It is so early I would not worry. Just mention it to your OB when you call.

Call your OB and have him/her paged. I would NOT stop the medicine before speaking to your doctors. It may be safe enough for use during the pregnancy.

Definitely call your Dr. now. This way you know what you should do, sooner is better! Congrats on the pregnancy!

congrats!!! call the dr. it would be a great peace of mind...he might want you to ween off rather then stop cold turkey, if at all.

Call the Dr. For sure. You most definatly cannot just stop taking Xanax. I was on it for a period years ago and even weening off made me feel some side effects because unfortunatly it is an addictive drug, even in small doses. you will need to weaned slower Im sure to reduce the side effects, and I wouldnt worry this early on it having any effect on the baby. Most drugs need to be consumed in mass doses for months before possibly having a negative effect.

Don't worry but def. call your doc. and explain it to him. I was on medication before I knew I was pregnant that I shouldn't have been but all my docs assured me that the there was no way that anything could have negatively affected the baby so early. Don't forget they consider the first 2 weeks from conception when in fact their is no fetus so relax and enjoy.
