What do you cook when you're having friends or family for dinner? I'm having 6 adults over and I need some recipe ideas!

I like to make something that won't keep me in the kitchen too long like whole roasted chicken, crispy roasted red potatoes and sauteed spinach with a touch of lemon & red pepper flakes.
People also love when I make pizza with fresh slices of roma tomatoes and basil with a big caesar salad.

I usually like to do a pasta dish-either stuffed shells with meatballs, vodka sauce or macaroni with garlic, oil and cheese. Garlic bread, salad, antipasto type things.
I also like a fiesta type theme. Chili, taco bar, rice, beans, guac & chips, etc.

Love doing taco night. I just prepare everything and then it's a free for all. I also often do chicken parm or some sort of roast.

I usually do:
Pot Roast (mashed potatoes, veggies)
Chicken Parm (pasta/bread/salad)
Beef Stroganoff (egg noodles/salad)
Chili (cornbread/salad) (done in slow cooker)
Chicken Catticiatore (sp?) -( pasta/bread/salad) - done in slow cooker
All things that are relatively easy to put together ahead of time.

fun laid back:
ribs & baked mac n' cheese
tacos
fajitas
mexican lasagna
pasta of some sort
homemade pizza
more formal/nice sit down dinner:
stuffed shrimp
crab cakes
chicken rollatini with penne ala vodka
pasta bolognese
marinated skirts, garlic mashed
a roast of some sort
chicken parm
