First Birthday Help
So we bought a new house (Yay!!) We close August 15th and Miranda's birthday is Sept. 26th. Out here first birthdays aren't a huge deal but I still plan on doing a big party for Miranda but figured it would be a 1st birthday/open house for people to see our new house (ie the reason we would invite people without kids which normally out here don't go to kids parties). So anyway I am not a great party planner so I need some great ideas for a fun birthday party/adult party and how to do the invites. I don't want people to feel obligated to bring a gift for the birthday and we definitely don't want house gifts since this is our 3rd home. Should I do separate invitations? Uggh I am so confused and if I don't start planning something now I will be scrambling at the last minute. I was thinking of copying a few on the luau idea since our new house has a huge back yard, deck and hot tub but I have no idea how to even do a luau.

Re: First Birthday Help
you could do the luau.....
do shish-kabobs, BBQ, tropical type foods, drinks with umbrellas
patio lights, lanterns if it will be dark.
invites....you could combine the two and have it say something like "Miranda is celebrating her 1st birthday in a New Home" or "Miranda would like to invite you to her new home for her first birthday party"'--therefore making the focus on her birthday, but also acknowledging the new home, but it doesn't read like it's a housewarming
