Runners Help!
Just a background on me:
Before kids I was always at the gym. I worked out 6 days a week (step classes, spinning classes you name it) for 1.5 hours.
I then had 3 kids in 13 months (one kid then twins ). Ok so i gained 50 pounds (yep 50! i am embarassed and ashamed).
August 23 I decided to change things, joined weight watchers and began to walk on my treadmill. I am ashamed to say it would ttake me 17 minutes to do a mile.
Well I have lost 30 pounds and now running at 5.8 miles an hour 6 days a week for 2.5 miles.
I can run through sickness, lack of sleep. However, my right groin has been hurting so much and I cannot push through it. I was limping while running last night.
I know I should take a couple of days off but the through petrifies me! I worked so hard to build to to this point. Will taking 5 days off to heal hurt what I built up to? Running at a slower pace does not help. My groin still hurts like heck. I tried advil/tylenol an hour before the workout. It helps a little bit.
Any recommendations? Should I take time off to heal?
Thanks for reading this long message...

Re: Runners Help!
Take of for sure!! 5 days wll not kill you and you will not gain back the weight in 5 days...especially if your diet is in check. To be honest, your workouts could suffer for far longer if your diet is in check. (this was according to my trainer AND nutritionist!) Your body is telling you it needs rest! Make sure you stretch and warm up properly with each workout!

Re: Runners Help!
listening to your body and taking time off is an important part of running.
If it's still hurting after a few days of rest, you probably need to see a doctor and they can refer you to the next step (PT, etc)

I agree! Even if you take a few weeks off you'll be able to get back to it pretty quickly. It's amazing how far you've come, congrats!

I agree you don't want to overwork your muscles or strain anything. Taking rest is important!
