I need help with schools......
Hi, we are looking for a house in Nassau County.. Been looking EVERYWHERE!!! Levittown (heard Island Trees is very good) Prices are sooooo cheap over there!! (wonder why??!!) East meadow, Massapequa, bellmore... Anyone know how the schools rate in these areas?? I've been on the web-sites and looked them all up but want to know if anyone has "personal" opinions of these school districts. TIA!!!

on a side note, I believe east meadow teachers have been working without a contract for a few years now...

that is true - 2 years - this year they have stopped writing college recommendations, not having class birthday parties and other activities that aren't listed specifically in their contract
But Massapequa had some contract issues a few years ago and all seems well now.

Hi.
I grew up in Island Trees. When we bought our house we wanted to stay in Island Trees but fell in love with a house in Levittown District. Still a good District but the taxes are a little more then Island Trees. Do a search here you will find lots of info on Island Trees and Levittown.

DH graduated from Island Trees and we live there now. I love the school district. For my work, we run an SAT class at IT and everyone who teaches there raves about how great the students are.

I live on the Clarke side of East Meadow.
I live in the Clearmeadow section. A few of my friends live in Levittown and their school disctrict is EM and they kids will go to Clarke High School too.
There are alot of houses in my area for sale.

Good To know Thanks so much!!!! Thanks everyone... if anyone could recommend any other areas not further out I'm all ears. I already have a 9 year old so this is FIRST priority on the list of finding a house! He's been in Catholic schools since he's 2.. I didn't want to have to pay for school "forever!!" And putting him into a good public school would be sooo helpful financially!

Like others have said - Island Trees is also good - I didn't mention it, because it is its own school district
