I'm going to make the "death by chocolate" trifle with kahlua... question though- after you make the devils food cake mix do you cut it up in squares to put in the trifle dish or do you crumble it like i've seen in some recipes? Also- do you chill the pudding first before putting it in the trifle bowl? Sorry for all the questions- as you can tell this is my first time trying this Chat Icon
TIA!

Sorry, no help, but all I could think of was the Friends episode when Rachel found out

"There's not supposed to be beef in the trifle!"

I would cut the cake into little squares (but you could also crumble it...just a preference). If you are serving it right away, I would chill the pudding. I think cold pudding tastes better. That recipe sounds really good!

Re: Trifle

You can either cut it or crumble it. I make it the day before so that everything has time to sit.

i always cut it up. not sure what is right, just what i have always done Chat Icon

and i chill the pudding. i usually make the pudding while the cake is baking and then put it in the fridge while the cake is cooling.

I actually saw it on here!! You can do it with either brownies or devils food cake- bake either one then poke holes in the cake/brownies- pour kahlua over the cake and let soak in. Cut into squares and put into trifle bowl, then do a layer of chocolate pudding and a layer of cool whip, then repeat. Sounds easy enough- i guess i'll see Chat Icon
