Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...
I have......all my and DH's tests have come back perfect. we are TTC for 2 and a half years and so far 2 IUIs and nothing, my doctor referred to us as being in the "unexplained group" I feel your pain, b/c it makes you wonder what is wrong then and if they could diagnose it at least there is a chance it can be treated

Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...
my friend was... but then that same dr who diagnosed her with unexplained IF then went on to have the audacity to tell her that unexplained IF is just a made up problem and it usually affects those who did a lot of partying and drugs! idiot!
she has been trying for 3 years... AND got pregnant twice in those 3 years, but both times ended up in mc.

nothing really solid
iui #1 w/ 100 mg clomid failed

I am sorry to hijack but I too had a leep and have been told that I have issues with CM during both my postcoital tests. Noone ever told me that is a possibility that the 2 are linked.

Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...
We have unexplained
2 years and 2 IUI's with injectables and 2 FET's resulting in 2 chemical pregnancies later (could not do a fresh transfer b/c I hyperstimmed) and we are on the hunt for a new doctor. All tests came back fine but CLEARLY there is a problem. I never tired , clomid, we jumped right to injectables. I ovulate on my own very regulary so clomid would not do much for me except possibly thin my lining. I do not have PCOS, just a very high responder to meds.
After talking to others who have been through this horrible journey, I have realized unexplained really just buys the doctors time in coming up with a diagnosis. I am about to go for a 2nd and 3rd opinion in the coming weeks.
Wishing you all the best in 2011!!

How far along was your friend when she M/C? Did she go for further testing to find out what caused them? I ask b/c maybe there is a problem that could be treated??

yup, was on clomid for about 5 or 6 cycles (3 were timed bd, 3 iui's), then moved onto injectibles for the remaining iui's. Did 3 cycles with Gonal F
i usually have 4 or 5 follies, and at least 1 or 2 that mature to a good size each cycle
Dh's SA have always been normal, count varies from month to month with the iui's but nothing out of the ordinary
we're hopefully going to be doing ivf in a month or so as i was just accepted into an ivf study
it's the most frustrating thing in the world.. no reason why we shouldn't be pregnant.. we're just not!

Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...
Me. Actually, secondary unexplained infertility.
I did 4 IUIs (unsuccessfully), and when they said it was time for IVF, I just could not do it without having an explanation for my infertility.
I am now going to a center where their main goal is find the CAUSE of the infertility (they don't do IUI or IVF) and then fix it. It's been 9 months (at the center, nearly 21 mos of TTC ) and I've finally gotten some answers. Still not pregnant, still not fully explained, but I do feel like we're on the right track.
It's taking forever, and there are MANY moments where I lose my focus, but I really do believe that finding the cause of my infertility is what I need to do.

Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...

would be curious how many girls on the PG board had unexplained..and how they got pregnant.
in shock- what methods are they using to diagnose you?

Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...
Me! Everything has come back normal. I ovulate regularly on my own and have normal cycles. The only thing that has come back a little abnormal is that DH's sperm count tends to be on the lower end of the average range but still within it.We tried for about a year and a half on our own and have done 3 natural cycle IUI's and nothing so far. It's very discouraging. I feel like we are getting treatment without actually knowing what's wrong.

Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...
I really didn't have any issues getting PG but could not keep a pregnancy. My solution was two-fold and i think it had an impact from both. I had tubal issues as well as immune issues. Did IVF along with immune treatments and some Eatsern medicine thrown in(visualization, acupuncture etc) and had my boys

Re: Who else has been diagnosed with...
I have an unexplained success story which I hope gives some of you ladies some hope.
I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility after a year of trying on my own. I went through all the testing, including a an exploratory laparoscopy, which all showed nothing wrong with me or DH. Having no answers as to why this was happening was the most frustrating thing of all.
I went through 3 rounds of unmedicated IUIs, 3 round of Clomid IUIs, and then 3 injectable IUIs. All of these cycles were picture perfect but didn't work. I finally moved on to IVF with ICSI and wound up with 10 good embryos. In a way, the IVF cycle was diagnostic in a way because 1/2 of the eggs were left to fertilize on their own and 1/2 were done with ISCI. We got a much higher percentage of embryos from the ICSI batch which shows a fertilization problem that no test would have picked up. We transfered 2 and I wound up pregnant with my son. I have 8 left over and am back on this board because I just made an appointment for a consultation for a FET.
