Dr. B girls, please put me at ease!
tomorrow i have a hysteroscopy scheduled in the morning. i really haven't thought twice about it until tonight because dr. b made it sound like no big deal. well, i googled it and everything i read said it's done under antesthesia so i emailed dr. b and he wrote back saying he uses a small scope so it doesn't require anesthesia. but now i'm totally freaked out that something that usually requires you to be asleep will now be done when i'm awake.
for dr. b girls....have any of you had this done? can you share your experience? does it hurt!?!?!!? i also didn't realize i would bleed after and he said in the email i'll need to wear a pad. i'm totally freaked out.
i hate this. i just want to have a baby.
TIA

Take a deep breath. I promise, it really isn't bad at all. No need for anesthesia. From what I gathered online, some people have surgical hysteroscopies where they have something removed, and that would require anesthesia, but not what Dr. B is doing.
All that's going to happen is that he's going to insert a very, very thin camera, and then shoot water (or saline solution?) into your uterus. When the water goes in, you will feel some cramping. The worst of it was like a bad menstrual cramp. It is over quickly. You will have some light bleeding/spotting after. I don't remember it being anything bad at all. I maybe wore a pad for the evening and a liner the next day, just in case.
Good luck!

thank you so much for this i don't know why i'm being so hysterical....i had a total breakdown last night about it and i'm sure with all i've gone through that i've been through harder things. i guess i'm partly just freaked out b/c it is my first diagnostic procedure with an RE and i can't believe we are at this point. i know it will be good in the long run, but it's so daunting right now!
anyway, thank you for your reply! it definitely doesn't sound that bad. google is pure evil!

It's not a HSG..that could be painful..
I had the hysteroscopy and it was a big nothing.
I had a very painful HSG at Northshore so I was scared but it turned out to be nothing at all.
Youwill be fine.

Re: Dr. B girls, please put me at ease!
ive had a hysteroscopy with dr. B. its NOTHING. it takes 5 minutes and feels like a period cramp for about 5 seconds. no anesthesia needed, and i feel bad for those that actually have to go under for such a simple procedure. the risk is higher with the anesthesia than it is with the actual procedure. good luck.

Re: Dr. B girls, please put me at ease!
THANK YOU so much girls i was seriously freaking out last night, but managed to calm down this morning.
i won't lie, the procedure was more cramping than i thought there would be but it is really fast and as soon as its over, the cramping went away. dr. b said at first my uterus was "cloudy" so he had to use more saline solution than normal which made the cramping more intense.
but, now it's over and he said everything looks good we are pretty much done with testing until january when we start the thrombo/immune testing.
thanks again to everybody who replied!!! i don't know what i'd do without these boards!
