Cruising on New Years?
All of DH's family goes on a cruise together every year. We usually go in May, but MIL recently mentioned going over New Years. For this year and next year, it won't really work since most cruises leave on Saturday and Sunday and then New Years is Sunday or Monday or something. Buttttttt, 2012 it lands on a Tuesday which would work!
Has anybody ever been on a cruise over New Years? Do they do anything special? Is it worth it? Does it cost extra? TIA!

Hmmm the other ones that start or end on New Years are priced the same. Maybe since it's not exactly ideal? I can't check prices for 2012 yet. 
ETA: But I meant more along the lines of do they have a party on the ship that they charge for? Like maybe at a specialty restaurant or something?

I went one year for New Years Eve. It was a blast!!!! They had a special party with streamers, everything! It was formal night so everyone was all dressed up.
Even Father Time was there dressed up for pictures.
I was younger but it was a great time!! A lot of drunk people but at least no one is driving

I just went on a Christmas one and it was awesome!
The crew was telling us they have bottle packages for the NYs cruises and they have a huge party as well.
