BF Moms: What can I do?

just recently mt DD has become a very restless, fidgety nurser. She squirms so much while remaining latched on that it's excruciating, Is this a sign of anything in particular? Is there antyhing I can do about it? I try removing her and starting over, but then she gets frantic over not being able to eat.

Re: BF Moms: What can I do?

my baby does that when he is getting ready to let go. I'm curious about what the other moms will say.

Maybe you're letting down too fast and too much milk is coming out for her to handle? Have you been pumping a lot or doing anything lately that would have increased your supply? If that's the problem you could try pumping for a few minutes before feeding her or even expressing some milk into a towel or something so that it's not too much milk to overwhelm her. They also say if you have overactive of forceful let down to offer only one side per feeding or even to use only 1 side for every 4 hours so if she wants to eat again in a 4 hour period to offer the same side again. My DS was doing this for a while and I think that's what was causing it. I would suggest that if she starts squirming or puliing on your nipple to take her off right away or you will be in for some serious nipple pain!! It will be better to let her cry for a few minutes than for you to end up with sore nipples. DS was sort of clamping down on my nipple and twisting his head and it took me about a week to recover! Chat Icon I think all of the sudden the milk was just to much for him so he was squirming and clamping down to try to manage the flow. kellymom.com has some articles about it. i'll try to find them and post the link
