anyone with gluten issues?
after several years of feeling like crap, i ended up having a blood test last week screening for celiac disease. doctor said there were "several positives" on the screening, and is sending me to a gastro doc next week.
can anyone tell me about their experience with gluten intolerance/celiac, the testing, etc?
and if you are gluten free, how do you manage??
TIA!

Re: anyone with gluten issues?
Right here...
Was sick for YEARS and YEARS and no one could figure out why...and then finally an acupuncturist I was was seeing for infertility was taking my history and put two and two together (I was doing Atkins at the time and was feeling much better)...
Anyway, my GP did a blood test that showed a high positive in one of the three categories. Years later my gastro took a sample while doing an endoscopy and ruled out celiacs (I didn't think it was anyway), but I am still pretty careful about what I eat.
I am not totally gluten free, but I avoid breads and things made with flour for the most part as they seem to bother me the most.
I feel a MILLION times better!!!
Good luck!

Me and my sister.
It is really not the end of the world. Many chain restaurants now offer separate GF (Gluten-free) menus, and many waiters are other restaurants are always willing to ask the chef about particular ingredients. You can even order GF pizza at Unos, for example.
There are several GF bakeries around, Whole Goods carries a ton of GF foods, and GF pasta is sold at literally every supermarket now. Many companies that sell foods at the supermarket are also directly listing foods as "GF" right on the front of the box. I mean, even Betty Crocker now makes GF cookie, cake and brownie mixes that I buy at the local supermarket.
