Re: treadmill
I didn't pay a lot for mine; it is a Proform and so far I really like it. I've had almost a year. We got lucky and got one of their "top" models at a great deal. Proform isn't a top of the line brand, but it's very popular as an in-home treadmill an some of their models are high-rated. Sears carries them - we got ours online because it was no tax, free shipping.
I looked at many, but I couldn't justify spending over $1,000 on one. I just need it to give me 5 good years until my kids are a little older and I'll have more "freedom" to run outside and hit the gym more often than I do now. One of the best purchases I made, and I think of that when I wake up and it's really bad weather out.

Re: treadmill
I have a proform also. I bought mine used from craiglist... it was pretty much new. The people bought it and never used it. Its a few years old now and I am now having some problems with the speeds not being accurate. I am not talking minor either... like on speed 2mph I am sprinting and I am jogging at 4 mph. This all started after we moved so maybe it got damaged in the move. Either way, it serves its purpose I just can't rely on the distance it shows me. Check out craigslist for some good deals.
