DH has a hole in his retina
DH went for his annual eye exam the other day and they told him he has a small hole in his retina and needs to see a specialsit. Has anyone ever heard of this before?? I am freaking out. I don't want to google because I think it will freak me out even more.

Re: DH has a hole in his retina
First, prayers for DH and sorry he is dealing with this. I know what it's like not to want to be freaked out by Googling health stuff on the internet, so I took a look for you.
Turns out, it doesn't necessarily mean anything serious is going on at all. If it wasn't caused by head trauma, it can kinda just "happen" and there is definitely treatment for it. From what I read, after it's treated, DH will need to hold his head in a downward position for a couple of weeks to allow whatever the procedure did to close the hole. But he'll be fine.
Hope this helps.

Re: DH has a hole in his retina
I have small holes in both retinas. They aren't large enough to require treatment, but I see a retina specialist once a year to keep tabs on them. If your DH needs treatment, the most common kind inserts a gas bubble in the eye over the hole. He'll have to keep his head in the same position until the bubble is absorbed. It's not invasive or painful -- just annoying.

Thank you so much!! I can relax now. He is supposed to be calling a specialist today to set up an appointment.
