What would cause male infertility
and what measures could be taken to fix it? I've been TTC for 7 months going on month 8 in a couple of weeks. My cycles are so regular. I know exactly when I O and when AF is coming. It's the same every single month! This is why I'm thinking maybe my SO is having some difficulties with his swimmers. I know nothing about this stuff and I'm scared to death that something could be wrong with either one of of us. My SO is going to do some research for an urologist and get himself checked out first. Any recommendations for doctors in the south nassau area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening

Re: What would cause male infertility
7-8 months isn't long when you think that every month a 'normal' couple has about 20% chance of getting pregnant. On average it can take a 'normal' couple under 35 about a year to get pregnant. It honestly doesn't mean that anything is 'wrong' with either of you.
That being said, it doesn't hurt to ask your gyno for a script to get a SA done for your DH. Or you can consider going to an RE for infertility testing, they'll order tests for both you and DH.
My DH has had his SA testing done at Quest Labs and the results were analyzed by both a urologist and my RE. I believe he went to Island Urological Associates 143 N Long Beach Rd # 1, Rockville Centre - (516) 766-2929

Re: What would cause male infertility
Yes it doesn't mean anything is wrong, but I would absolutely go and get your SO check out. My DH and I tried for 6 months and then had him checked out and thankgod we didn't wait any longer b/c he had 2 male infertility factors. We immediately moved to IVF. It's better to know what you are working with than to just go on and on trying, good luck!

Re: What would cause male infertility
I know textbook says 1 year b4 you consider IF issues but i was just like u.. i just had a gut feeling that something was wrong and so did my regular GYN doc. Follow your gut!!! For us ,it turned out that it was my DH with with issue and although his problem was super serious it still took us over 2 years to get a BFP though IVF.
This is a great urologist that we saw and she was really phenomenal. So caring and explained SO much to us.

Re: What would cause male infertility
We have severe male factor issues. My DH does not have vas deferns which is very rare. We saw Dr. Schoor in Smithtown. We were happy with him.

Good luck!
Don't get too worried until you know there's actually something wrong.
