Re: New Year, New Doctor, New Protocol....
If you are starting stims on Day 3 or 4, I assume you are not taking Lupron or BCP prior? After going through one cycle, I now know the next time I do a cycle I am going to ask many more questions than I did previously. I am sure you can ask your doc the benefits to doing this type of protocol. Do you know what kind of trigger shot you are going to give yourself before retrieval?
Wishing you tons of luck in your next cycle!!!!

The doc wanted me on BCPs for 2 months before this time... b/c i ovulated thru BCP during my first IVF. i am triggering with Lupron.

Re: New Year, New Doctor, New Protocol....
I have never been on BCP, only Lupron. I think this time my doctor wanted to possibly trigger with Lupron and therefore I cannot take Lupron prior to beginning the cycle. It may be a similar protocol.

Re: New Year, New Doctor, New Protocol....
Good luck!! I'm not sure the details of the protocol but bc I have lining issues dr doesn't want me on bc prior so I had to go in today, cd2, had my sono and blood. He wants to start me tonight or tmrw on stims but said he would call me later to give me final instructions. Unfortunately bc of the holidays he has to make sure that he can complete the cycle by a certain date This will be the first time I stim this way

Re: New Year, New Doctor, New Protocol....
Are you at SIRM by any chance? That's where I am and I also started stims on day 3 or 4. Do you also start an antagonist on CD 1 and Lupron in the 8-10 days leading up to CD 1? This is called an agonist/antagonist conversion protocol. I started with Lupron only the cycle before as I asked not to be put on BCP's which is their standard protocol.
In any case...no worries...I'm cycling now and knock on wood..have had a good response thus far...I am also doing estrogen priming though.

I am at SIRM. No lupron, i am triggering with lupron so i can't use it during stims. I start gonal on CD 3.
Stupid question, but what is estrogen priming??
TONS of luck to you !!!!! When is your transfer ?

Estrogen priming is a protocol for low responders/high FSH'ers/AMA ladies, etc...Most places like Cornell and CCRM do estrogen priming differently than SIRM in that they give you estrogen in the cycle before the IVF whereas SIRM has you start estrogen during the IVF cycle. So..I had to do estrogen patches and estrogen vaginal supps with my stims. They say it helps with the egg quality..it is a SLOW protocol though...I stimmed for 14 days!!
Hmmn...no Lupron either? Why are they triggering you with Lupron and no Lupron in the cycle before? I don't recall ever hearing of a SIRM protocol like this one. The only thing I can say is that a lot of people think the less Lupron the better..so...it may be a very good thing for you...FX!!!
I go to retrieval tomorrow...so...I may transfer Friday or Sunday..I'm 43 so...I'm scared of a 5-day transfer...but...we shall see how it all works out.

Re: New Year, New Doctor, New Protocol....
classc1,
Hi. Just read that you did the estrogen priming. I'm going to be doing that this cycle as well. I've done IVF 3 times already but never had estrogen priming. Can I ask you how it made you feel? I just got AF and am going in on Monday to the office to probaby start stims and the E.P. On what cd did you start the stims and E.P.?
Thanks! And, good luck to you! So nerve-wracking, I know!!!

Re: New Year, New Doctor, New Protocol....
I just wanted to throw some and tell that if we both get a BFP our next cycle back, we'll join the pregnancy board and have due dates around the same time! January will hopefully bring many of us on the IF board luck. It's the month of my original due date (January 18th).
