Liquor for a party

I'm having a party for some colleagues.

We'll have beer and wine.

I usually have a bottle of the following for mixed drinks:

3 Olive Cherry vodka (my personal favorite drink)

Kettle 1

Scotch
Rum

Honestly, outside of vodka drinks, I really don't know a lot about hard alcohol drinks.

What should I have?

I don't want a full bar-just 2 or 3 bottles I should have on hand.

Thanks!

I think thats fine and u can just get juices to mix drinks. you can also mke like 2-3 signiture drinks then have only that.
I have a kickass eggnog if its a holiday party.

I would suggest vodka, scotch, tequila and two rums, one light and one dark (like Bacardi and Captain Morgan). Beyond that, you're getting into specialty and in my experience, the vast majority of hard liquor drinkers drink vodka. Offer club soda, tonic, ginger ale, sprite, coke, cranberry juice and maybe OJ for mixers. Have fun!

I love to watch Sandra Lee's Semi Homemade Cooking - she recommends making a "signature" cocktail - there is a list of them on foodnetwork.com - and then you don't have to buy all the other liquors you probably won't use too often.

If you don't want to do that, I would just get wine, beer, vodka and rum, soda, and OJ. If you want, maybe cranberry juice.

I'd definitely get rum- like pp said one light, one dark- and then just mixers- sodas, juices, etc.

You could also have a punch bowl- one of my favorite drinks is sprite, vodka, and sherbert mixed together. It's soooo delicious!

this woman seriously makes me want to RIP MY HAIR OUT Chat Icon

but I do agree about a signature drink, you can make it something festive, and put out the main fixin's for that along with a nice BIG recipe card at the bar.

this year I am doing blood orange champagne cocktails Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would also suggest having some spiked egg nog (or coquito),

in my bar right now we have Myers Dark and Platinum Rum (my favorites for the moment but I also like Brugal. I will never buy Bacardi again) Patron for sipping, Sauza white for mixing, Cointreau (cosmos!), Grey Goose (in the freezer), Malibu rum (a gift, I hate it haha), Southern Comfort (if there's any left Chat Icon ) and a few other mixers you really don't need. but I am a crazy mixed drink nut. I am also picking up a bottle of Maker's Mark.

I think if you sort of "guide" peoples taste buds with the signature cocktail and a nice seasonal punch like Nog, you'll find they sort of stick to the plan more.

it's also MUCH easier on the wallet.

I love drinking Chat Icon so I have a ton of ideas I won't bother posting unless you want them.

I know, Sandra Lee can be a little trying on the nerves, but I do like her cocktails and she does have some great ideas to make things a little easier.

Re: Liquor for a party

I'd add a small gin and a small tequila.
