clomid: am i brewing a litter? **update**
this was my first cycle taking clomid. i went for the ultrasound yesterday to see if it worked--i have 7 follies. the dr. said that 3 of them are big enough that it looks like they'll mature, but there's a chance the others could too. he wants to check again after my LH surge.
he wants to do an IUI because DH's SA came back normal in all categories except his morphology is in the low range. but if too many follies mature, the dr. wants to skip this cycle and lower my dosage.
so break it down for me? how normal is it to have that many follicles? what do you think the real risks are for having a whole family clan at one time?
**update** it looks like 2-3 matured, so we're a go. i have a trigger shot scheduled for tomorrow and my first IUI on wednesday. nervous & excited!

I suppose the risk is different for everyone but for perspective, I have had cycles with 5 follicles where I didn't get pregnant at all and a cycle with 3 where I got pregnant with 1.
If you have 7 though, I can definitely see why he would want to cancel!
ETA: when you posted this at 4:55am, I bet you didn't expect to see a response just a few minutes later!

lol actually I don't need to be up for another 30 minutes but I'm nauseous   so I'm on here looking for a distraction.
I know at 7dpo it's not a sign  (so I hope nobody thinks that's where I'm going with that)

it varies so much person to person and even cycle to cycle. my first clomid cycle i had 7 also. my dr did the IUI anyway because several of them were smaller. i did get a BFP (ended up being ectopic because of my bad tube) but i think it was a singleton. i did 2 more clomid cycles and had 3 follicles and 4 follicles. sounds like your body is responding well to the clomid so that's definitely a good thing. good luck!

hmm, thanks for the info. i guess i'll just keep hoping that the 3 large ones are the only that ones that fully mature.
otherwise it's gonna be scary to go forward with the IUI.

with ds i had 1 follie and got pregnant with 1..
it doesnt really matter the amount of follies -- its the quality.
