German Restaurants on Long Island

Are there any good German restaurants on Long Island? I remember going to one in Northport but I can't remember the name. Suffolk is preferred.

When I was in high school a friend of mine worked at Pumpernickel's and I can't eat there because of stories she told me.

There is a German restaurant in Lindenhurst tha tis supposed to be very good... it's called the Village Lantern and it is on Wellwood just north of the RR tracks.

I don't know how authentically German the Black Forest Brew Haus is over by the 110 airport.

They have great beers on tap and it was a lot of fun.

Georgia's German Restaurant in Lindenhurst used to be good.. but I haven't been there in years. It may not even exist anymore!Chat Icon

ETA: My GF said Georgia's is gone but The Village Lanterne (the one BookofLove recommended above) is in it's place and she says it has really good German food.

The Village Lanterne

Beer is great, food was disgusting.

I don't like Black Forest. It's not good food, far from being authentic German.

I'm in Queens, so we go to Chalet Alpina on Metropolitan in Forest Hills. Has a nice homey feel to it. The only thing I don't like is the red cabbage - they add cinnamon to it.
I've never been to Oak Chalet, but my dad says it is good.

really, I worked there for years. I wouldn't eat the celery and carrots put on the table but everything else I would. Food was made fresh and the fish was delivered daily. Never saw a roach or evidence of mice. The kitchen was kept clean too.

I don't know about Suffolk, but my German grandfather goes to these two all the time (even has his German/American meetings at the first one) -
