? about anovulatory cycles
Does anyone get AF regularly, but know for a fact that they don't O?
I get + opks and have a regular cycle each month. My doctor did day 3 labs and nothing came back odd. They also tested my progesterone around day 18 and said it was a little lower than they would like. Nothing drastic though.
I'm know you can only confirm O by temping or by the doctor. I stink at temping. I'm wondering if I should ask the doctor to confirm that I O. I already have endometriosis so I know it might be more difficult to conceive. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I feel like I should conver all bases.

Re: ? about anovulatory cycles
You get a period every month, right? If you didn't O, why would you bleed regularly? You release an egg around Day 14, it triggers progesterone to build, your temps go up, your body gets ready for a fertilized egg to implant. If no fertilization / implantation occur, you shed out your uterine lining (this is your period) and it starts all over again. If that wasn't all happening, you wouldn't bleed regularly.
I don't O, and it takes about 60 or 70 days for the... stuff... to build up down there and eventually have to shed itself out, without ovulation having occurred.
If you get positive OPKs and have a regular cycle, there is no reason to believe you're not ovulating.

Re: ? about anovulatory cycles
Prior to conceiving my DSand DD , I never got AF ( well very rarely) , and was DX with PCOS.....I was under the care of an RE
After DD, I started getting my AF, pretty much on a regular basis ( every 30-36 days) and was tested for ovulation and I was not.....
There are many things apparently that can cause annovulatory bleeding, some more "serious" than others...I would have your doctor run some tests and see if you can get to the bottom of it...
Best of luck

Re: ? about anovulatory cycles
you can still bleed every month without ovulating, that is called annovulatory bleed. The best way to confirm is to take a blood test for progesterone 7 days after suspected ovulation.

Re: ? about anovulatory cycles
Thank you. I always thought that AF meant O until recently. I have no reason to believe that I don't O. I would just rather make sure 100% that I do because they removed the endometriosis and it will grow back at some point and can interfere with fertility. If I need intervention to O, it would be better to know sooner.

Re: ? about anovulatory cycles
The month I went in for bloodwork they confirmed that I did not O. Because of my long cycles, he has reason to believe that I do not O every month and the bloodwork confirmed it.
I also have PCOS and had my 1st lap to remove large cysts and a lot of the endometriosis. I had my 2nd lap early October and the doctor did not find any endometriosis. So it might just be that they removed yours with the 1st lap. Has your doctor confirmed that the endo is back?

No, it has only been a few months. I read that endo can come back within 3-6 months which is why I don't want to waste the next 3-6 months not knowing the full picture and then find that the endo is back. Kwim?

I definitely understand. I waited too long to see an RE after my first lap (2008). But like I sid I had another lap done this October, 2 years alter, and no endo. Have you been taking BCP, metformin since your last lap? If so this also helps reduce the chance of endo/cysts from developing. Best of luck!
