Q for Dr. B girls re: new cycle
Hi ladies. I was wondering if you always know your protocol or what you're doing that cycle in general when you go in for CD 3 bloodwork & sono.
My last appt. with Dr. B was about 6 weeks ago, right before my current cycle started. At that point, he still thought the translocation was my main issue, so the plan was that we continue to try on our own with CBEFM, then do IVF when we decide the time is right (DH and I decided I needed to finish my dissertation first).
A few days after that, I got a call from Dr. B that my sister has the same translocation, and since she had no problems conceiving, that probably wasn't the main issue, and he thinks it's now the PCOS. During that conversation he was basically like, "We can do a monitored cycle, maybe get you on clomid....let's just get you inseminated, pregnant and out of here!" I started on metformin over 4 weeks ago. I have very long cycles, so I'm at the tail end now, and am expecting AF any day. I have all my usual symptoms, including starting to spot this morning.
Assuming that I'm not PG this cycle, I'll call Dr. B's office to schedule CD 3 testing. In your experience, should I just take my last conversation with Dr. B to mean that this is the plan? Should I be having a conversation with him before then? Am I just a totally anxious nut who is overthinking everything?
Sorry this was so unnecessarily long!

Re: Q for Dr. B girls re: new cycle
If that is what you discussed with Dr. B then I would say that's your protocol this month. However, when you go for CD3 bloodwork, you'll have a sono as well. You can discuss everything with him in further detail at that time and he will only go with what YOU are comfortable with. So what you discussed over the phone is not a set in stone plan. Good luck

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Even though I started seeing Dr. B in August, this will be my first cycle with treatment other than metformin and baby aspirin. Between waiting for test results and long cycles, everything seems to take forever, and I'm just eager to move forward (again, assuming I'm not PG right now...might as well assume the worst and hope for the best).

I would assume he means to call on CD1 of your cycle to schedule CD3 bloodwork and then take it from there with whatever other monitoring they do during the cycle.
If anything, just email him to confirm that is what you should be doing.
but that's how I take it.

When you go in on CD3 you'll discuss the plan of action for this new cycle then, and i'm sure if you wanted to email him on CD1 he'll at least be prepared for you.
You'll get bloodwork and a baseline sono done that day and discuss your protocol for the month - whether its a natural cycle or if he wants to put you on meds, or even do IUI's..
hang in there
