How much has your house gone up...

since you purchased it? We could probably get about $100,00-$125,000 more than what we payed and we have been in the house less than 3 years. Although we have NO plans on moving anytime soon. It's nice to know we made a solid investment.

It is scary to have to buy a 1st house today. DH and I say if we had to buy our house today we wouldn't be able to afford it!Chat Icon

We bought one year ago...not sure it's gone up very much. Some, but nothing outrageous.

Re: How much has your house gone up...

hmm, no clue! I'd estimate at least $80K? We've completely remodeled the kitchen so that is nice for re-sale, but we've only owned it for 2 yrs.

We refinanced about a little over a year after we purchased and it appraised for $100K more.

The homes in the area are now selling for $500K more than we paid 5 yrs ago and they're not even as updated as ours.

Re: How much has your house gone up...

i don't know if our house has gone up...haha we have only owned it for 1 day.

My DH and I are both only 23 and its not going to be easy to pay for this mortgage, however, we are willing to do whatever we have to. There aren't too many 23 year olds out there that can say they purchased a house on their own. It makes us proud to have accomplished that at such a young age.

I am against renting and know it would be impossible that would take us, plus the baby and 2 black labs.

I'm with you. When dh and I purchased our current home 8.5 years ago, I had JUST turned 24 the week before closing. My dh (which was my fiance at the time) was 28. We made $45,000 combined!!
We bought our house for $200,000 (which was the going rate 8 and a half years ago- sad but true). We've done MANY renovations over time. We could now sell our house for about $600,000. Owning a home is such an awesome investment. I'm glad we did it when we did- BEFORE KIDS!!Chat Icon

We are in the same boat. We bought a month ago at the ages of 23 and 25. We are proud we were able to buy, but it will be hard managing the mortgage. Hopefully it will work out for the best. We plan on selling and moving further west in about 2 years.
