turkey size question
so i am hosting Thanksgiving for DH's family and most of them told us that they weren't going to come because of other plans. I had counted 6 people, so i bought a 13 pound turkey, assuming that would be plenty... well now one of DH's uncle's said that he and his family are coming now, so i will have 10 people... my mother told me a 13 lb turkey would be too little for 10 people and i should buy something else, like a ham.. thoughts? do you think the 13 lb turkey would be sufficient enough? there will also be two young girls there so the count would be more like 8 people... TIA!

Re: turkey size question
If you go to butterball.com they have a turkey portion estimator. I plugged in 8 people and two kids. I also plugged in that you are big eaters to be safe and it said you should get a 13.5 pound turkey. I think a 13 pounder is perfect. If you are really concerned maybe get an extra breast.
