Runners--Help Me!
OK, so I really fell off the fitness wagon after my wedding. I joined the Fall Weight Loss Challenge, but I really haven't lost anything, which is why I haven't posted
I'd really like to start running. I think it will be easier to motivate myself to a healthier lifestyle if I have an activity that I like. So my question is, where to start?
I thought about C25K. Any suggestions from runners out there?
How did you start running? Why do you love it? Recommendations for a newbie?
TIA!

Re: Runners--Help Me!
I started running for weight loss reasons too and now I really enjoy it. I started out by running for 2 minutes than walking for 5. I was in bad cardio shape. I kept increasing the time I was running and decreasing the breaks Id take in between. I didnt use a training schedule I just did what felt right for me. Im now running 5K's with no problem and Im currently training for a 10k :) Good luck! You can do it!!!

Re: Runners--Help Me!
I started running because I had a goal- I wanted to run a half marathon (although before I did that I ran a 10k- it was my new years resolution).
I didn't follow a particular program. I would just run. I started out at one mile, then gradually up to 1.5 then 2.
Now I can very easily run 10 miles.
Just work your way up- listen to your body.
Sometimes it helps to sign up for races. THey're alot of fun!!

Colleen, is it easier for you to run 10 miles on a treadmill or outside?

Outside- definatly. 10 miles on the treadmill first of all is super boring. Second, the treadmill at the gym will only let you on for 60 minutes at a time so I have to stop and then restart.

Re: Runners--Help Me!
I started running last March and used the C25K. It was AMAZING and really worked wonders for me - someone who had never run a day in her life. I started running 5ks with no problem and was training for a 10k (got up to 5.5 mile runs) before I got injured at the end of the summer.

Re: Runners--Help Me!
Doing the c25k changed my life! At first I really didn't think I could do it. A year and a half later and I just ran the NYC Marathon! I lost 20 pounds in the first 6 months and now I'm addicted! Go for it!
