provera before first RE appt

earlier this week my gyno gave me a prescription for provera since its been like 60 days since my last period. I haven't taken it yet.

i found out i have PCOS so i made my first re appt for Nov. 23.

should i start the provera now (this means i could possible have my period during the RE appt)? Or should I wait until I speak with the RE and see what he says?

Re: provera before first RE appt

I would personally wait and start the provera when you see the RE, that way you can get started on CD3.

With provera, you take it for however long your dr prescribes (usually about a week) and then once you stop, you get your period 3-7 days later.

if youve never been to the RE, you should know that the cd3 appointment you always have AF for!! most people dont realize that until they have been to the RE!!

anyway i would just call and ask the doctor. the same thing happened to me before my first appointment and he wanted me to come in first and run bloodwork and then he made the call to start it.

i would start now
i made the same mistake, waited, hoped AF would come, etc. Just a WASTE of time, IMO.
start it and be done with it. no need to waste almost all Nov till RE apt.

I'd start it now.

I took Provera this summer and it was a full 3 weeks from my first pill until AF came. The doc told me that I'd get AF from 7-14 days after the last of 7 pills, and I got it the full 14 days later. The wait was excruciating. I know some girls get it a lot sooner, but I didn't, and you might not. So my advice would be to take it as soon as possible and go for your CD3 testing whenever you need to, even if it's before the RE consult.

I realize I'm responding again.. but, you need to have your period in order to start on a cycle. I think if you start it now, you would probably need to start it again for a CD3 Chat Icon That's just my opinion.
