If you have had laporotomy and/or D&C
Can you tell me about your recovery? I had both done last night. I'm still very sore from the incisions from the laporotomy and on the inside, I'm assuming where the D&C was done. Just curious what to expect. TIA

Re: If you have had laporotomy and/or D&C
My situation was very different but I had a D&E. I would say for recovery, the worst of it was the bleeding. I didn't really feel much physical pain afterward, though I was told if I did I could take Advil.
I was feeling a lot better after a week and was given the all clear to return to all normal activities after 2wks. I would say it took 2-3wks to really feel back to myself physically and emotionally.... though after everything I went through, it was really just a new kind of normal.

Thanks for responding. I'm still sore, they sent me home with pain meds and motrin. I haven't had much bleeding yet, just light. My abdomen hurts when I walk or after the meds wear off. I'm not sure if it's from the d&c or lap, I'm sure partly of both. You're right getting back to normal is a whole different kind of normal. for the last 2 1/2 yrs I don't remember what "normal" is! I have to call the office Monday to make a follow up appt fir Friday. I was told activity ad tolerated and not to return to work or school until they tell me. Luckily I'm a sahm so I just have to be home, I can rest. My DS is 4 1/2 and knows I had surgery and thankfully is being helpful and independent!

Re: If you have had laporotomy and/or D&C
I had 2 D & C's with very little bleeding after. But because you had a laporotomy also I can't really say that it would be the same.
I had minimal bleeding and minor cramping but my cramping was around for a few weeks.....it would come and go...never all the time.

I hope you have a good recovery- whatever that even means for something like this.
