Halloween at school

Does your school allow the kids to wear their costumes to school(when it falls on a weekday)? Our school always did and the kids loved it. We got a new principal 3 years ago and she put a stop to it. NO more costumes at school. It makes me a little sad and I know Jordan was soooo disappointed(especially because she was allowed to and then not allowed). I loved growing up and having the halloween parade around the school and the parents came to watch. We had a costume contest etc.

Re: Halloween at school

When I was a kid we had the halloween parade...but now that SD is in the same school system it seems they discontinued it. They have a fall fair on Friday but they aren't allowed to wear their costumes.

Yes. K-2 have a halloween parade. 3-5 are allowed to wear costumes and watch the parade.

There are caveats - no masks or weapons.

Our district does the Halloween parade for every elementary school. No masks, no weapons, no gory costumes.

In Catholic schools, they did crazy hat & tie day (understandable since it is a pagan holiday).

In our school only the K kids get to wear costumes and they parade around the school. The PTA is doing a Halloween carnival on Friday night, I guess I should ask if they allow costumes.

No Halloween costumes in my kids school. They are allowed a non-uniform day and they are encouraged to wear orange and black. They have off on Friday, so their dress down and parties will all be on Thursday this week.

DS has to do that Monday on All Saints Day! The school celebrates Mass and the kids in K-6 dress up as saints. It's very cute!

Only K can wear costumes, no masks or weapons. Not sure if they are doing a parade or just having a small party. Also not sure if the class they are in is allowed a party because they are in the allergy room, even though I believe the other classrooms are.

Re: Halloween at school

No Halloween costumes at school for us. The kindergartners and first graders can bring their costumes in and wear it for the parade but they can't keep it on all day.

I bough a bunch of Halloween themed shirts for DS to wear everyday this week.

Only the kindergartners get to. I am actually fine with it. I work in Nassau and live in Suffolk so it is hard to get to all the school things, plus what he wants to be and what they would allow are two totally different things.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Halloween at school

Our whole school wears their costumes. Teachers too.

The whole school also has a Wonder Walk parade where the whole school and all the parents walk around the block in their costumes. They also raise money for the March of Dimes with donation envelopes collected before the walk.

Our school does a Halloween parade for up to 2 grade and the older kids get to dress up like characters from a book and watch. They also have a great halloween party at night. So much fun.

Re: Halloween at school

No costumes in our school. Friday the kindergarteners have a fall party during the day and can wear Black and orange. At night the PTA has a fall carnival and the HIgh School has a safe tick or treat for the entire district.
