Sure, it was so easy. Buy a bag of Goya Masarepa (white corn flour)
1 bag makes approx 12 arepa's.
Directions.
Put 1/2 bag in a bowl Add a good amount Kosher Salt (more than a pinch, but don't over do it) Add warm water (from the sink) Mix with hands to form dough.
Take some dough out and form a ball. If the ball is completely smooth, it is ready. If there are any cracks in the ball as you form it, add more water.
Form ball, then flatten out to a patty shape. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes (turning once) The outside should get hard and very light brown and the inside should sound a little hollow if you knock on it. To serve, cut open like an english muffin (leave the last bit intact like a pita). Scoop a little of the insides out. Stuff with your favorite meat or veggie dish.
Colombian Arepa's taste completely different. They are smaller and have cheese or other ingredients added to them. I believe they are fried only and not baked. They may even use a different flour like Harina de Maiz. I am not sure, I have to ask my SIL.
