My Kid Is a Poet!
I don't know if you guys saw my poetry post on FHF yesterday. It's one of my favorite art forms. I write it, I read it and I listen to it.
My son came home with a poem that he had written and I am just blown away!! I had to share:
The last tree standing
No more leaves of gold
The branches are bare
The ground is cold
Fall is over
Now winter has risen
The last tree standing
Cold and withered.
Now - yeah - it's not the greatest work known to man and it has a lot of end rhyming which I know many people don't like that and see it as trite.. but he's NINE! I think it's pretty great for a 9 year old. I guess I'm really starting to see a lot of growth in his work and in him as a person - it's super exciting.

 I think he did a great job. Does your PTA participate in the Reflections program? He should definitely enter.

The theme this year is something about "Together"! I think this might be as opposite as you can get!

This years theme is "Together We Can"
so it would be a stretch. There is definitely talent there maybe he can do another one that works with the theme.

That is really good!
I edited the literary magazine in college & that is better than I much of the poetry adults submitted.
End-rhyming is only trite, because it sounds like a 12 -year old wrote it.
Not a good thing when you are 21, but quite an acheivement when you are 9!
