Where do you buy your meat?
I buy mine from Cow Palace in Rocky Point. I usually order about $60 worth and get it freezer wrapped which lasts us about 2 weeks.
Lately I've noticed a SLIGHT odor to the chicken cutlets. Do you think they are old or is it from being wrapped or frozen?
Also, their chopped meat smells and tastes like there is sausage in there
I like the idea of the butcher but lately I am not too happy with them.

I know the owner of cow palace. They do not put sausage in their chop meat. The smell on the chicken could def be from freezing them. Tell them you want it freezer wrapped. I buy all our meat from them.

Re: Where do you buy your meat?
I buy 90% of our meat/chicken from "My Butcher" that's really the name-in Wading River across from King Kullen. I find the customer service in Cow Palace to be TERRIBLE, I've tried several times & every time the music is blasting, the guys working there are too busy playing grab azz with each other to answer questions, so I walk out.

In the past I have noticed that but it's really different now. They've expanded the store and there aren't as many young boys. You should give them another chance.

It's so weird though. DH and I both noticed it. Only sometimes. It's like they may have done sausage in the machine and then the chopped meat without cleaning it or something and it has that sausage smell. So strange.
I do get the meat freezer wrapped but I wonder if that's why it smells. Maybe I should just get it in a bag and use it immediately instead.
For the record, I LOVE Cow Palace and the owner is super nice.

Usually western beef, trader joes, or wild by nature. Once in awhile I'll get it from peapod, stop and shop, or waldbaums. And thats just always a bad idea. lol. I ahve also gotten it from omaha steaks and that was a bad idea too. lol.

Re: Where do you buy your meat?
I’m surprised so many people go to a butcher. I always just buy at ShopRite when the meat is on sale, looking at the sell by date and freezing individual portions accordingly. I’ve never had a problem doing that. Is it cheaper at the butcher? I have never even considered it, I always just assumed it was more expensive.
