Had my HSG today

I had posted last week that I was nervous about my upcoming HSG so I thought I'd update. It was totally clear! Everything looks fine. The test was unpleasant, especially because the radiologist couldn't get the catheter in right even after a few tries. It took about 10 minutes all told. Really intense period-type cramps for a minute or two, but mentally it wasn't so bad because I knew it would be over so soon. Plus, I kept telling myself that I was doing this so that hopefully I'd be in labor one day and that that would be much worse. Chat Icon

So now, after 8 MONTHS of not ovulating, of growing giant cysts and being put on BC pills, of worrying and wondering and waiting... it's just another 2 weeks until my next appointment with the RE to start me on Clomid and talk about actually having a baby. 8 months so that I can finally TRY for the first time. I'm super excited.

Glad to hear it went well. It sux to take the time to get there, but worth all the testing, etc to know how to best get treated. Hope your journey is nearing an end!!

I'm glad to hear it went well and everything is clear. That's great news! The Dr that did mine had the same problem with the catheter- not fun! Chat Icon

Where were you this morning with this advice? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Seriously, though, I can't imagine that there are 2 ways to equally give an effective HSG - one that causes pain and one that is pain-free, and that doctors all choose the "pain" one for no reason at all.

I've heard that you're more fertile after an HSG too, but my problem is that I don't ovulate. My tubes being super-open won't help my hormones push those eggies out of my ovary this month. Chat Icon

I am glad everything went well. I have the same issue, no ovulating on my own. Hopefully the clomid will work for you and you will be pregnant soon. Chat Icon

Thank you!

My RE sent me to NRAD (Nassau Radiology... something!) - they have 10 offices all over Nassau. I went to the one on Lakeville Rd. right off the Northern State. The people at the office were nice and it was really quick on and off the highway.
