Starting to Run
I've decided to add running to my regime as I've already lost 7lbs by just watching what i eat. I enjoy being outside especially early in the AM. I went running this morning and did 2 miles. However, while i was running, my knees felt a little bit tight. I know it's not my sneakers b/c I have good running shoes so i wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions. Should I supplement my meals with a calcium tablet for my knees? Also, I wanted to start replacing my lunch with soymilk and some type of powder based supplement. I went to GNC yesterday and was told not to use protein powder b/c it has salt in it and will end up making me bulky. So overall, my questions are: Should I take calcium or even some flax oil to "oil my joints"? And what can I use as a meal replacement? I dont want to buy anything already made, i need a powder to mix with soymilk.
Thanks!

Re: Starting to Run
My knees are a mess but I too like to run outside occasionally. I went to a podiatrist and got custome insoles for my sneakers (it was covered by my insurance or else it can be $$$$). That helps my feet and my knees. Try hamstriing streches before and after you run to loosen up, that helps me A LOT!
Also, I don't think you should do meal replacement, just eat more veggies and switch to skim milk. IMO that is healthier for you.
I am not sure about calcium supplements, but i am sure it can't hurt IDK.
Good luck!
