Those were given BCP for IVF?

I was given BCP about 2 weeks before the surgery, then was told to stop taking them the day of surgery. I know I should have asked the doc, but I never really thought about it until now.

If you were told to take BCP, why and what were the reasons for it. I just think it is kind of ironic, we're trying to get pregnant, not avoid it?

I think it has to do something with lining If yours is too thick, BCP makes it better. Might be other reasons that i am not aware of. GL!

I took BCPs all of my IVF cycles, but only for the first week.
It helps surpress your eggs before they stimulate them and harvest them.

i took BCP for 3.5 weeks prior to IVF. its for suppression. for IVF the RE needs to have complete control of your cycle and that requires suppressing all of your body's natural tendencies. i turned out to be so suppressed that it took an extra few days for the stims to start kicking in. but once they did it was pretty much smooth sailing from that point on.

The BCP shuts down your ovaries so when they stim you one side isn't dominant. You either have BCP or Lupron to do this.

It is totally crazy to be back on the pill to get preggo!!!!!
