Bugs in new bag of rice
I'm so LIVID right now.
I went to add brown rice to a casserole I'm making for dinner and I noticed big black bugs all over the bag. 
It's from Walmart so I just called Great Value and they said they're very sorry and they'll send me a $10 gift card but ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?
I'm tearing apart my kitchen right now making sure they didn't get into any other parts of my pantry. Just skeeved out. Ew.
Probably making a big deal out of nothing but EW. What kind of quality control do they have going on in their mfg sites? EW.

ew thats just gross and wrong. I have however heard of this happening with pasta a lot. So unfortunitly I don't think it is as uncommon as it should be!!

this has happened to me with rice and pasta, and a lot of grains actually. I think i actually posted about it once b/c i thought i was storing them wrong.... it is really upsetting though; that TOTALLY sucks. esp when you plan your whole meal around it and don't have a backup (which always happens to me).

Gross! I store my rice in air tight containers and once I got to the bottom of my container, I found a bunch of baby rice weevils (probably the same bugs you found?). It still grosses me out thinking about it

My mom & I split one of the huge bags of rice from Costco and there were bugs in it! And we discovered it right away, so they were in there when we bought it! gross!

Sometimes in life gross things happen. You called and they rectified it. What else would you like them to do? It sux and is gross, but its not the end of the world.

Yes, true this happens - have had it happen to me with pasta, flour, and cereal....

Yuck I better start paying more attention when I open my rice and pasta. It did happen to me once with almonds. It was like a bunch of teeny tiny worms at the bottom

that happens. it's more common than you would think, but a store's ability to prevent that is pretty limited. i heard you're supposed to rinse rice before you cook it. maybe that's why.

that happened to me with birdseed
i think they are called grain weevils
they are tiny and harmless and die very easily
once you eliminate the source they die off
you might want to check any opened packages that were next to this rice bag and throw that out as well.
