Sono tomorrow to check on my cyst - what's next?
I haven't posted on here or on TTC for a while, but hopefully I'm ready to jump back in.
I have polycystic ovaries and do not seem to ovulate on my own. Over the summer, one of the ovarian cysts got so large (6 cm) the docs were worried that, worst case, I'd need surgery to save my ovary ( ). They put me on BC pills to allow the cyst to shrink. It did. I had another sono 4 weeks later and it was gone. Now, it's 4 weeks after that and I'm back to the RE tomorrow to make sure it hasn't returned. If it hasn't... well, I don't know. We never got that far! I have no idea what our plan is, or what my diagnosis is (blood tests were negative for any hormone/thyroid issues) or when or how often these giant cysts will return.
I am guilty of "Good Patient Syndrome" - I get so nervous at the doctor's office, and so worried about being liked that I just freeze up and smile and nod. Help! What should I be asking tomorrow? What should I suggest? I always get so nervous, and then 10 minutes later think of all the things I should have said.

I don't have any experience with cysts but I'm glad to see you are ready to come back here.
I'm just like you - I don't want to be labeled as a pest or be disliked so I tend to back down when it comes to any concerns I have.
I would just be sure to have a clear understanding what your next step is going to be and be sure to ask what all of your options are. I personally try not to get too far ahead of myself. I'm on my first IUI (and I have a feeling that I will be heading towards number 2) and I find my mind wandering constantly to "what's next". I have to keep stopping myself and try to concentrate on the step I'm at now.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Lots of luck to you.

Re: Sono tomorrow to check on my cyst - what's next?
The great thing is that cyst left with the help of BCP.
I would ask what type of cyst you develop. It seems it might be a corpus luteum, they go away with medication like in your case. These cysts develop towards the end of your cycle, due to the progesterone.
If you develop endometrial/hemorragic cysts than those are recurring and sometime need to be removed by surgery (which is what I had done).
I agree with pp, try to get a "gameplan". What is next, and if that does not work what happens afterwards. It helps me to know that we have options and that I can prepare myself (mentally, emotionally, etc.) for what's next. Good luck!!

Re: Sono tomorrow to check on my cyst - what's next?
Thank you for your replies. I read them and I was all prepared when I got to the office.
I had my sono and it showed that the cyst hasn't retuned. Yay! So they had me sit in the waiting room to talk to a doctor. I waited for 45 minutes, to be seen by another doctor who told me that my doc was out for the day and would call me tomorrow. Why did I need to wait 45 minutes for that???
But I tried to focus on the positive - the cyst is gone - and hope that I get some kind of a game plan tomorrow.

Glad everything went well. Aside from them making you wait for 45 mins.
