Gates
Frankie is 8 1/2 months and just started to crawl last week. Any recomendations for stair gates. We live in a high ranch and are always going up an down. Oh, and a convertable car seat too. He has almost outgrown his infant one.
Thanks.

Re: Gates
We have a high ranch too. This is the gate we got for the top of the stairs.http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000DBHHR/qid=1150921847/br=1-7/ref=br_lf_ba_7//102-2271264-5465712?v=glance&s=baby&n=540992 I'll try to attach a pic of it here too.
We have 2 carseats. One is the infant Graco that goes from the car to the stroller and the other is a Britax. Eddie Bauer has a great convertable seat, it's available at BRU too.
ETA: for the other parts of the house we just got the regular gate but we wanted a more solid gate for the stairs that go down to our front door because I was worried about her throwing things down the stairs or getting her hands through the gate. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Gates
We have the First Years Simple and Secure Gate at the top of the stairs. Very sturdy and easy to open when holding the baby.
ETA: This one is mounted to the wall.

Re: Gates
For the top of steps (where they are in danger of falling) you should not use a pressure mounted gate. It may not be a concern now but soon baby will begin to put pressure on gate. If it is pressure mounted baby could push gate forward and fall down the steps. You should use a wall mounted gate for the top of steps.
This one is specifically designed for top steps: Top of steps gate

Re: Gates
I bought a retractable safety gate from buy buy baby, it was expensive but we used the 20% off coupon and it was worth it. They sell them through one step ahead, here is the link: Gate

Re: Gates
I agree with Jenny- for the top of a stairs gate- you NEED the hardware kind.....
I just bought:
The Summer- extra tall top of stairs gate... it was 59.99- it comes with some alarm that if its not opened a certain way- it beeps (so your child dosent try and make it down the stairs w.o you knowing...)
I dont even have stairs... but it was one of the only ones that fit the doorway to my kitchen (which is where Im trying to keep him out of) and I figured... once we buy a house- it looked like a GREAT top of stairs gate...
The alarm was kind of annoying- so we took the batterys out... but that will prob come in handy one day....
